ROCHESTER NEW ROAD TQ 7467 NE 12/182 Nos 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 24-10-50 II Terrace of six houses, of two builds, No 18 built slightly earlier as a single house. Early C19 tuck pointed Flemish bond, gault brick, Welsh slate separately hipped roofs to each. Double depth plan. 3 storeys with basements, each house has one ground floor round arched window with upper arched window with upper arched sash, 2 first and 2 second floor 12 pane sashes, all with glazing barsunder flat rubbed brick arches. Ground floor window and door opening under 2 concentric rubbed brick arches. Single panel doors, plate glass arched fanlights. No 18 has 6 pane 2nd floor sashes, No 19 marginal light glazing bar patterns. No 18 has cement render finish. No 19 with unsympathetic re-pointing. Nos 20-23 retain original pointing. No 28 has late C20 replacement door. No 18 has plat bands at cills of windows. Nos 19-23 stringcourse at springing of ground floor arches, at sill levels and at base of coped parapet levels. Garden party wall with terminating coped piers with area and front railings survive: either 'x' frame with rosettes at centre or acanthus topped rails with spear headed rail divisions. No 18 has earlier flat spear topped and urn-topped rails. Sashed rear facades.
