House, now 2 cottages. C17 or earlier, altered in C19. Timber framed,
plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays facing E, with internal
stack near middle against rear wall, and a C19 internal stack at each end.
Extended to left, C18/C19, and divided into cottages. 2 extensions to rear. One
storey with attics. 4 C19 casements, 4 more in gabled dormers. 2 boarded
doors, each with a small pane and shallow hood on profiled brackets. One
diagonally arranged shaft on main stack. In the right bay, longitudinal joists
of horizontal section. In the next bay, chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue
stops and square joists. Large wood-burning hearth, the mantel beam chamfered
with lamb's tongue stops. Jowled posts, cambered tiebeams. Originally of one
storey and minimal loft, the walls have been raised approx. 1 metre, probably in
the late C17 or C18.
