TL 82 NW GREENSTEAD GREEN AND STISTED ROAD

Granary. Mid C16. Timber framed, weatherboarded, roofed with corrugated iron.
3 bays aligned approx. NW-SE, extended to NW in C18/19. 2 storeys. Roof hipped
at both ends. Jowled posts with hewn ledges supporting binding beams which are
stop-chamfered. 'Suffolk' bracing trenched outside heavy studding. Plain
joists of horizontal section jointed to binding beams with soffit tenons with
diminished haunches. 2 unglazed windows in SE end on upper floor, one with 4
diamond mullions, complete, one with 2 of 3 diamond mullions. Crownpost roof
with axial bracing, and down braces to tiebeam. Joined to a C19 2-storey red
brick building of less interest to the NW, and to a single-storey flint and
brick building roofed with handmade red plain tiles to the NE. Farmhouse not
listed.
