8/27 The Gate House
II
Detached house. Late C17/early C18. Coursed and dressed stone with
alternating quoins, Cotswold stone slate roof, stone end stacks
with moulded cornices. Large front range with parallel smaller rear
range of late C18. 3 storeys. 3 windows, some twin casements and
some with wood mullion and transom forming 4 equal size square
panes. All leaded, and all with wood lintels except for second
floor windows which are directly under eaves. Central doorcase
with flat stone hood supported on stone brackets, 6-panel door, top
2 glazed, rest fielded. Small 2-storey wing to right probably of
early C19.
