GV II
Semi-detached estate cottage. Late C19. Probably by Sir Ernest
George and Peto for Lord Redesdale. Coursed squared and dressed
limestone, concrete tile roof, limestone, gable coping, cement
rendered brick stack. T-shaped plan with gabled projecting porch
in angle towards road. 2-storey. Irregular fenestration. 2
and 3-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods in gable
ends. Flat chamfered, depressed arched entrance to porch. Plank
door within. Axial twin flue stack. Saddleback gable coping
with moulded kneelers at eaves. Roll-moulded gable coping to
porch with moulded kneelers.
Interior not inspected. One of several similar estate cottages
occupying a prominent position opposite the Church of St. Mary
(q.v.). Included for group value.
