13/188 Barn approximately 30m west of
Troutbeck Farmhouse (previously
23.1.52 listed under Barns immediately West
and North of Troutbeck Farmhouse)
GV II
Barn with attached cart sheds, now garages. Early C19; mid-late
C19 addition. Random rubble limestone; stone slate roof, Welsh
slate to cartshed. Four-bay barn with north porch and outshut;
cartshed with loft at east end. Off-centre gabled porch with
timber lintel and plank doors on north side. Concrete block-built
outshut to right is not of special interest. Corrugated lean-to
roof to left outshut having plank stable doors. Triangular vent to
south side and west end of barn, gable apex slit vent. Off-centre
barn doorway on south side with plank doors. Three cart openings
with monolithic stone dividing piers on north side of cart shed;
roof eaves projects above on brackets. Interior: 4-bay scissor
braced barn roof trusses.
