Circa 1883, architect probably A E Hamblin. (1883 application by Hamblin to
build a manufactory in Regent mace appears to tally with this site). Three
storey red brick purpose built manufactory with stone sills and window heads
and moulded brickwork dressings. A symmetrical Gothic 8 bay flat fronted
elevation with a consistent arched window theme. Two bay gables flanking
3 bay centre gable. Arcaded ground floor windows with pointed arches to doorways,
all with moulded brickwork. Original door furniture. Three-centred arch arcade
of first floor windows on sill band, with similar detail and paired and tripled
groupings under gables on second floor. Scalloped brickwork to tympana of
second floor window. Centre gable contains stone quatrefoil aperture for
hoist. Plate glass glazing with small panes to top lights. Gable end tiled
roof. High quality brickwork and mouldings typical of the 1880's in Birmingham.
