Either side of the projecting tower, tall Ionic quadrant porticos whose plain
entablature is continued across the lower part of the tower which is of 2
stages. The first stage rectangular with columns and pediment to each face,
the second an austerely plain octagon surmounted by an arrangement of metal
that reads as a cross equally from all 4 cardinal directions and from above.
The remains supported at the back (ie to the east) by a shelter-like structure
with 2 columns built in connection with the laying out of the adjacent garden in
1955 in commemoration of the Coronation.
