House. C18, extensively modernized C20. Facade of Recess Lodge facing South onto North Street. Red sandstone random
rubble, hipped roof with double Roman tiles, brick stack at apex. 2-storeys, one bay, attached to Ivy Cottage (qv) to
West; C20 mullioned casements, entrance on left return through round headed archway into courtyard. To North fronting
courtyard Recess Cottage, also with C20 fenestration and at right angles at Northern end disused building, red
sandstone squared, coursed masonry, chamfered corner on Western end, hipped corrugated iron roof, late C18. 2-storeys,
two bays, boarded up window openings with voussoirs, segmental headed opening with keystone to right, another square
headed entrance with stone voussoir in angle to wall to East.
