House. c.1912. Convincingly attributed to C.F.A. Voysey. Roughcast brick
with stone dressings. Tiled roof. Informal Arts and Crafts Style.
L-shaped plan. A low and spreading 2 storeys with attic. Entrance
recessed with splayed angle to 1 storey projecting bay in inner angle of
L. 1 and 3 light casements in this bay, stone surrounds to all openings,
leaded lights to windows. Set back over entrance but projecting slightly
is a small gable with a 2 light window. In angle with projecting wing to
right is a 6 light timber mullioned casement. Gable end of wing to front
has a ground floor 6 light stone mullion and transom casement, eaves and
raked tiled hood to first floor with a 4 light timber mullioned
casement. Battered angle buttresses at all corners. 6 light dormer on
inner pitch of right wing. To left of entrance main range has scattered
1, 2 and 3 light stone mullioned windows and a 3 light dormer. Hipped
left end with tall end stack. Left return has 2 entrances, 2 two light
dormers flanking stack. Right return of wing has ground floor canted
bay. Small buttressed projection towards rear with hipped roof. Garden
facade is more regular: 2 semi-dodecahedronal full height bays with 2
rows of 5 light stone mullioned windows. Ground floor stone mullioned
windows and canted bays. Buttresses, dormers as at front. Interior not
inspected.
