Public House. Late C15 wing and late C16 hall rebuild cased in late C18.
C19 additions. Timber frame; wing rendered, hall brick cased. Tiled
roofs. 3 bay open hall with 3 bay cross wing. Cross wing gable to left
with entrance in brick and timber gabled porch, ground floor canted bay,
first floor 2 light casement. C19 addition to left, 1 bay with
casements. Double gable to left return with stack in central valley. 2
storey hall range with main C17 cruciform ridge stack at left end,
plastered crossed keys to front of stack. Central hooded entrance,
triple sash to left, tripartite sash to right. First floor horizontal
sliding sashes, that to centre smaller, segmental heads. Dentilled brick
eaves. Extruded right end stack with offsets. To rear: exposed framing
on return of cross wing which_has a brick rear wall. Weatherboarding on
hall over C20 flat roofed additions of no special interest. Interior:
ground floor bearers in cross wing, stop chamfered towards front,
moulded towards rear, moulded jowled post, patterned curved bracing and
moulded ceiling beams in hall. (RCHM Typescript).
