2/64 Upper House Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably late C17 to early C18 with early C19 extension.
Coursed sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, Welsh slate roof,
with verge to east and half-hipped projecting wing to north, side stack
with brick shaft to south. L-plan with main range aligned east/west and
former granary wing projecting to north at west end. Cellar, two storeys
and attics. North elevation has three windows, cross-casements (probably
original) under dressed voussoirs, central early C20 door under contemporary
porch; projecting granary part to right has tallet stairs rising to a ledged
door, possibly C18 above which is a gable door; attached to right hand side
is an un-fenestrated single-storey early C19 extension. West elevation to
projecting granary wing has a 2-light mullioned window to ground floor;
C19 extension has two ventilation slits. Interior of house has simple
collars above tie-beams; projecting wing has V-struts from ties to principals.
