The White House

GV II
House. Possibly C17 with earlier origins and later alterations. Timber-
frame and brick with render. Welsh slate roof and brick stacks. L-plan
with arms to west-north-west and east-north-east. Two storeys and attic.
Main elevation to east has 2:1 windows, two and three light early C20 case-
ments with drip moulds and two gables to left-hand side containing 2-light
casements. Six-panelled door in gabled porch to left beneath and between
the two gables. Stack to right of right-hand gable. South-west elevation
has two gables and one central semi-circular headed sash. Interior has
heavy ceiling beams with lambs tongue run-out and asymmetrical pyramidical
chamfer stops. Flagged floors. Attic has trusses with steeply angled raking
struts and ledged door with foliated strap hinges in form of fleurs-de-lis.
