Gateway and walls: circa 1850-60. Red and blue brick walls in alternating bands
with stone capitals and brick tile coping. Wrought iron gates. Two square
piers with moulded stone caps under spherical finials, approximately 10 feet
high in total and on moulded plinths, flank double gates with concave elliptical
top decorated with rose and scroll gilt work. Oval roundel on each gate with
thistle in each. Flanking walls approximately six feet high and contain stone
dressed, 4-centre arched pedestrian gateways, planked door in each side with
grilles to upper half. Shorter square piers to ends of walls under spherical
finials and section of return wall to left buttressed as it steps down the hill-
side. The Mansion, now burnt down, was in Ewhurst C.P.
