House west of Bewicke School
G.V. II
School caretaker's house, now private residence. 1878 by J. Johnstone for Wallsend
School Board. Snecked sandstone with ashlar plinth, quoins and dressings; renewed
tiled roof with stone gable copings. L-plan, 2 storeys, 2 bays. 4-panelled door
in left return under 3-paned overlight. Paired sash windows in left bay set back;
gabled right bay with canted bay window under paired sashes and relieving arch.
Stone mullions, alternate block jambs and chamfered surrounds to all windows.
Eaves corbel tables;roll-moulded apex to gable coping resting on moulded kneelers.
Plinth and sloped coping to one ridge chimney stack.
