28.11.72 Georgian Theatre

At north east end of Green Dragon Yard. Originally a tithe barn of unspecified
date; extended and converted to a theatre 1766 when the original sandstone
walls were raised in brickwork. Pantile roofs, gable end of south has louvred
openings. Below is 2 storey brick stable with a new pantile lean-to roof:
wide doors to left facings with louvred window above; this extension has its
south east corner chamfered to accommodate cobbled passage from Green Dragon Yard
to Theatre Yard. South east corner of theatre also treated in similar manner
as are the high walls opposite. Various blocked openings on east and west:
sides. Northern half of roof slightly lower. Side entrance formerly from
Silver Street side now from The Green Dragon Yard to former changing rooms on
Theatre Yard side. Traces of former balcony.
