House. c.1800. For Sykes of Wrigley Mill. Hammer-dressed
watershot stone with slate roof. Double-depth central-
staircase plan with 3 storeys and a 1-storey wing to right.
Projecting plinth,string courses and raised quoins. Central
door with etched glass panes has fanlight, open pediment on
pilasters and a stepped approach. Bays 1 and 3 have 2-light
flat-faced stone mullion windows with C20 casements whereas
bay 2 has windows with square-cut surrounds. Round-headed
gable window with keystone and impost blocks. Wing to right
is a re-constructed cottage (formerly at the rear) and uses
a round-headed rusticated door surround with keystone. Rear
has a central 3-storey high round-headed stair window
flanked by 5-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows
on each floor.
