Church. 1874. Carpenter and Ingelow. Squared coursed rubblestone,pitched
tiled roof. Aisled nave, aisled chancel, polygonal apse, dwarf transept to
north, mid 20th century narthex and west wall, with entrance to north-west.
Paired lancets to nave, clerestory with traceried oculi in semi-circular headed
richly moulded recesses. Chancel and apse with painted two light windows with
geometrical tracery. Tall buttresses to chancel. Fine interior partly red
brick, partly rendered with ashlar dressings. Three bay nave, with painted
arcade having round stone piers; fine timber roof of King post and arched brace
construction, with wind braces. Two bay chancel with similar arcades, but with
attached shafting carrying transverse ribs for wooden chancel roof. Polygonal
apse with brick and stone vault; stone shafting to wall Victorian fittings and
furnishings, including pulpit, font, reredos, stained glass etc.
