3 shops and house. Possibly late medieval extended and altered
early C18, altered early C19 and C20. Colourwashed brick, lined
stucco, plain machine tiled hipped roof, 2 large ridge brick
stacks. 2 storey, 5 bay High Street front in colourwashed brick
with first floor band. A central canted glazing bar sash window
is flanked by single 6 panelled doors, with traceried overlights,
set in painted ashlar pilastered surrounds with narrow hoods. To
left a pair of glazing bar sashes under single flush lintel and
to right a C19 shop window with narrow pilasters, fascia and
cornice. To first floor 4 glazing bar sashes. Market Place
front is in lined stucco, with single pilaster and rendered band.
To left a C19 shop front with panelled pilasters, stall riser and
fascia with cornice. To right a semi-circular headed window and
a C20 shop front. To first floor 4 glazing bar sashes, set
rather irregularly. The 3 bays to the right are the earlier
house. Interior has chamfered beam with simple stop to first
floor, possibly late medieval. C18 panelled reveals to windows,
C18 moulding to beam, early C18 fireplace with bolection moulded
panel over. The description includes No.1 Market Street (Normic
Newsagents).
