SD 53 NW GOOSNARGH GOOSNARGH LANE

4/57 Threlfall' s Farmhouse

Farmhouse, probably late C17, altered in C18, now farmhouse and cottage.
Whitewashed rendered brick, slate roof on 2 levels with 3 rendered
chimneys. Three-bay baffle-entry plan, extended by addition of one bay to
the left end, with rear staircase outshut to the original 1st bay. Two
storeys,the upper floor set back (possibly raised from single storey in
C18), except addition at left end which is high single storey; panelled
door in line with ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, 3 windows
at ground floor and 4 above, one in the addition, all horizontal sliding
sashes with glazing bars, except that at right end of ground floor which is
fixed. Rear has, inter alia, 2 doors, a small firewindow, and a 2-light
mullioned stairlight in the outshut. Interior: back-to-back inglenook
fireplaces with chamfered cambered bressummers; beams with tongue-stopped
chamfer; fielded panel doors to pantry and staircase.
