RUFFORD LIVERPOOL ROAD SD 41 NE 7/12 Cottage, Coach house and stables c.10 metres east of wing of Rufford Old Hall (formerly listed as outbuildings at Rufford Old Hall) 11.10.1968

Cottage, coach-house and stables. Probably early C19. Coursed sandstone with raised quoins and dressings of the same, slate roof on 2 levels with brick chimney at the junction. Facing south, onto yard. Cottage at left end has doorway at left corner, with large banded jambs merged with raised quoins to that corner, a cross window to the right and windows of one and 2 lights at 1st floor, chimney at right hand gable; coach-house and stables continued on slightly lower level to the right, a large segmental-arched wagon doorway next to the cottage, with banded surround, a doorway at the right-hand end and another like it midway between, 2 circular pitching holes to the loft. Rear: cottage projects, has door and window at ground floor, 1/2-dormer in eaves; former rear wagon entrance blocked with brick, one window to the stable. Listed for group value.
