House. Early C19, altered. Red brick in Flemish bond, with rusticated
stone quoins, stone dressings. Square 3 x 3 bay plan, with rear service
wing. Two storeys, symmetrical; 1st floor sill band, rusticated quoins to
the outer corners and plain quoins to the inner corners of the outer bays;
slightly set-back middle bay has doorway with moulded stone architrave and
double doors, and at 1st floor a 16-light sashed window; outer bays have
one similar window on each floor. Left gable wall has an inserted bow
window at ground floor; each gable has some other sashed windows, and 2
chimney stacks, between which the gable wall is carried up to make a
horizontal screen or parapet. Rear service wing of less interest.
Interior: some ex situ mahogany panelling, with rectangular fielded
panels, said to have been removed from Knowsley Hall library when that was
demolished c.1948.
