House, c.1840. Ashlar, slate roof with 2 chimneys at each gable.
Double-depth 3-bay plan. Two storeys, symmetrical, in simple classical style:
plinth, 1st floor band, moulded cornice with low parapet; centre panelled door
with Ionic doorcase and cornice, 2 windows at ground floor and 3 above, all
sashed without glazing bars, in plain surrounds. Similar windows in other
walls, including attic level of gables. Interior: has panelled doors and
doorcases in hall, staircase with decorative iron balusters and handrail with
curtail. History: was home of Stott family (Syke Side Mill, q.v.) and in C.20
of Alan Rawsthorne, composer).
