Cottage. Probably C17; remodelled and extended in C18/19, and extended in late C19/early C20. Painted brick. Thatched roof with half-hipped ends. Brick axial stack. PLAN: 3-room plan; the centre bay, heated from an axial stack, appears to be earlier. Narrow bay set back on right [NW] end added circa late C19/early C20. EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. Asymmetrical 3-window NE front with 3 lunette-shaped attic windows; all casements with glazing bars; doorway to left of centre with late C19/early C20 gabled open wooden porch with arch and plank door. Applied timber-framing on right-hand [NW] gable end. At rear [SW] the back wall to left is plastered and set back. INTERIOR: left room ceiled and with plastered axial beam and corner fireplace with C20 brick chimneypiece. Centre room has large chamfered axial beam and unchamfered joists; fireplace with cambered timber bressumer with straight-cut stop, but cut off at other end and C20 brick fireplace inserted. Ceiled attic chambers. Closed truss over right-hand partition with large principals and wattle infilling below collar; common rafter couples appear to be intact.
