Courtyard walls and gate piers. C17 or earlier in origin, part rebuilt C18.
Red brick. The walls enclose the lower courtyard containing the barns, granary,
and 2 sets of stables (items 7/136, 7/137, 7/138, 7/139 & 7/140). About 8 feet
high to east of house, with 2 leaf-scrolled and bifurcated wrought iron gates gates
between 2 piers, with pineapple finials at head of flight of 8 semi-circular
brick steps (C20). Wall to roadside averages about 4 to 5 feet high swept up to
north side of house, and also granary (and predates late C17 granary). Turned
in to C20 wooden bar gate with original piers - and ball finials.
