Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid-C18 with later additions and alterations.
Red brick, roughcast to left gable end; slate roof with external end
stacks, larger to left. 2 storeys and attic with dentilled eaves cornice;
cellar. Slightly irregularly-spaced 3-window front; 4-paned sashes in C18
segmental-headed openings, blind to upper left. 2 hip-roofed eaves dormers
with C20 casements. Plank door to left bay under C20 open gabled timber
porch. Single-storey early C19 addition to left has C20 casement to
front. Interior. Left ground-floor room has 2 chamfered spine beams and
exposed joists and inglenook fireplace with chamfered segmental wooden
lintel. Square panels to timber framed cross wall. Front right room has
timber framed spine wall (square panels) separating it from back room
(pantry). Chamfered spine beam and joists to front room, joists only to
back room. Front room has inset panelled wall cupboard to left of chimney
breast with mixture of H- and L-hinges. C18 staircase in left room has
turned balusters to open string and plain moulded handrail. Centre wall
on first floor has large square and rectangular panels. Left room divided
by partition spine wall with light square panels: similar wall to right room
with framing concealed by wallpaper at time of resurvey (February 1987).
Wide boarded oak floor boards and panelled and plank doors as on ground
floor. Oak staircase in rear left room with right-angled turn leads to
attic. This has central collar and tie beam truss with vertical struts from
tie beam to collar and raking struts to principal rafters.
