Pair of houses. Late C17 with earlier origins probable. Extended and
altered C20. Timber frame, rendered. Tiled roof. Possibly a 2 bay open
hall originally, remodelled and extended to form a 4 bay pair. 1 storey
and attic. Ground floor: central C20 gabled porch, 2 C20 16-pane sashes
to left, 2 C20 small pane casements to right, all flush frame. Four 3
light gabled dormers with small panes. Central cross axial ridge stack.
External end stacks, that to right with offsets. Left end has a small
entrance porch addition with a C20 Gothic glazed door. To rear of No. 14
to right a catslide roof over a continuous lean-to outshut. C20 wing to
rear of No. 12. Interior: No. 14 has stop chamfered bearers, jowled
posts, braces in walling. No. 12 not inspected. Cowper Arms Public
House from 1786 to 1870.
