Farmhouse, now disused. Late C16 or early C17 with later additions and
alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble; artificial stone slate roof with
stepped coped verges to south gable end of north-south range. Basic L-plan
comprising hall range aligned east-west with roughly equal-length cross-wing
projecting to north on west. 2 storeys and attic. South side of hall range has
former 3-light mullion window (mullions removed) with dripstone on each floor to
left and one 3-light cavetto-moulded mullion window to left and 2 to right of
chamfered 4-centred arch with C17 nail-studded plank door. This has 3-light
leaded gabled dormers in roof slope, integral end stack with dripstone and
moulded capping to right and ridge stack to far left. Identical corresponding
doorway (cross passage) on north side has 2 windows on each floor to left, with
one to right on first floor and 2 to right on ground floor, all leaded
cavetto-moulded mullions with dripstones. West side of north-south range has
3-light cavetto-moulded mullion window with dripstone on each floor to left with
boarded door in chamfered wood surround to left and small leaded casement to
right an ground floor. Gable to left of centre has infilled 2-light mullion
window with dripstone to apex and 3-light leaded casement with wood lintel on
each floor to right; straight joint to left of ground floor window. 6-panel door
(top panels now glazed) to right of gable has 3-light leaded casement with wood
lintel on each floor to right. Late C20 leaded gabled dormer in roof slope to
right of gable and integral ashlar end stack with moulded dripstone and capping
to right; similar ridge stack on line with gable. Low range attached to right
gable end has coped verges with decorated stone finial. Plank door on west side
with glazed panel and wood lintel has leaded gabled eaves dormer directly above.
Right gable end has two 4-centred chamfered windows on ground floor, left
infilled, right with leaded fixed-light window. Chamfered mullion window in 6
narrow lights with moulded cill above; 3-light cavetto-moulded mullion window to
back wall. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987)
but likely to be of interest.
