Barn. Late C17/early C18 and early C19. Coursed squared limestone;
Stonesfield-slate roofs. 10-bay plan with added range. Main range is divided
into two 5-bay sections, each with central double doors and lower opposed doors
to rear; gables have stone parapets with projecting moulded kneelers. Added
double-span range centrally placed to rear, is in similar style with double
doors in the sides. Interior: earlier butt-purlin roofs have trusses with ties
and collars, and all rafters are tenoned and pegged into purlins. Northbrook was
the site of the C16/C17 mansion of the Dashwood family, demolished 1750.
