Potting Shed, formerly furnace house for heated garden and greenhouses, with
attached walls andsteps, probably late C18, altered c.1840. Ashlar; Welsh
slate roof. Long rectangular building built into hillside, with tall south wall
and pent roof. Flat-coped south wall, now within C20 greenhouse, without any
openings. Returns each show 2-light mullioned window with iron-framed 18-pane
casements, and stepped slab coping. Low wall to rear with pilasters and stepped
coping. Attached terrace wall with flight of steps at each end; second flight
at left end leads down to sunken ramp entry to furnace house.
Interior: 4 round-arched furnaces in north wall.
