CARHAM WEST LEARMOUTH COTTAGES

Terrace of cottages. Late C18 or early C19. Random rubble with dressings;
Welsh slate roof. Originally 13 cottages, now rearranged to make 9. Four
groups of 2 cottages stepping down the hill. Number one, to left is slightly
higher, 4 bays with sash windows. It was the steward's cottage. Nos. 2-9
have boarded doors with 3-pane overlights. C19 eight- and 12-pane casements.
Gabled roofs with boarded brick ridge and end stacks. Outshuts to rear.

An unusually complete and relatively early group of farm labourers' cottages.
