(south-side)

10/57 Church Hill Cottages

II

Former lobby entrance type farmhouse now 2 cottages. Late C16. Rendered
timber frame with pantiled roof. 2 storeys with attic to south side of stack
only. Varied C18 fenestration with metal casements and horizontal glazing
bars. 2 planked doors, one, with fielded centre panel, probably original
yet re-positioned. Blocked doorway opposite central axial stack. Winding
stair to other side of stack. High quality clasped purlin roof with wind
bracing to south of stack. To north of stack, first floor formerly open to
roof with one fine queen post truss with hollow chamfered arched braces and
braces from posts to collar. Later extensions to side and rear.
