3/35 School House,Brompton Barracks

GV II

School. Early Cl9. Brick with slate hipped roof. Single-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3:5:3-window range. Symmetrical front with the middle 3 bays set forward with plain pilaster strips between the windows, and an caves cornice. Rubbed brick flat arches to 6/6-pane sashes, the W front has a round-arched doorway right of the centre with radial fanlight and double doors. INTERIOP,: not inspected. HISTORY: an early example of a building for education in a barracks. Group value as part of an axial arrangement of buildings with the Barracks blocks and Institute (qqv).
