5/86 Barn 20m north of The Old
- Rectory

GV II

Former tithe barn. C16-C17 core with later additions, mainly of C19. A
single range some 36m in length. Mainly timber framed and weatherboarded,
except at the east end which is of red brick with plasterwork to the rear;
roof plaintiled to front and pantiled to rear. The earliest part is a 3-bay
structure towards the west end; to the west of this is a one-bay addition, to
the east an early C19 3-bay addition formerly used as stables and with the
original fittings. At the east end is a 3-bay cottage, under renovation at
the time of survey: C19 casement windows, boarded half-door; 2 C16-C17 diamond
mullioned windows to rear. The east gable end has fine early C19 carved and
cusped bargeboards similar but not identical to those on the main house.
