4/94 Coal Tax post 55 yards
from Railway Bridge
at TQ 25775704

Coal and Wine tax post. Circa 1861. Made by Henry Grissell. Metal. Circa 4 foot
high. Four legged plinth with chamfered pier. Moulded capital band above with
pyramidal top. City of London shield on front. Lettering on pier reads
"24 & 25 VICT/CAP 42". Makers name on rear. A Coal and Wine tax post indicating
the boundary at which duty was payable, that on coal dating back to the 1660's.
