Walls enclosing walled garden
beside lane opposite Ashtead House

GV II

Walls enclosing large walled garden. Probably late C18. Red brick in Flemish
bond, with stone copings. The total area is approx. 130 metres long from north-
east to south-west, and approx. 60 metres deep at the maximum, the northern
boundary curved, the eastern following the line of the lane, and it is divided into
2 parts by a north-west/south-east cross-wall. The walls are mostly approx. 4
metres high, with some ramps on the side to the lane, and there are doorways in
the north side and in the south end of the cross-wall.
