House. Early-mid C19 with earlier origins; raised late C19. Brick, rendered at
front, with tile-hung 2nd floor; plain tile roof. 3 storeys, the top storey
added; 3 bays. Ground and first floors have: plinth; rusticated quoins;
cornice; central 6-panel door (upper panels raised and fielded, 2 lower panels
reeded) with iron knocker and door knob and over panel, in panelled reveal and
having wooden doorcase with reeded half-columns, entablature and deep cornice;
sash with glazing bars above door, other windows tripartite sashes (having sash
with glazing bars flanked by narrow 4-pane sashes), all windows in reveals with
projecting sills. 2nd floor: two 4-pane sashes with corbelled pentices under
paired gables with bargeboards. Interior: in left room on ground and first
floors a cross-beam with lambs tongue stops, and in the first floor room a
chamfered, jowled wall post, these timbers probably being remnants of an earlier
house on the site. Included for group value.
