2 semi-detached houses, No.86 formerly stone mason's
premises). Late C18/early C19 and later.
EXTERIOR: No.86 stucco with cornice and blocking course;
No.86A painted brick with stucco cornice and blocking course.
No.86, 2 storeys, 4 (irregular) bays. Ground floor (cut
through 2nd bay from left for garage entrance) has entablature
with dentil cornice to right 2 bays. Above 1st floor of this
section high parapet with Coade stone oval medallion in crest
containing figure of Flora in high relief; patera beneath
flanked by 2 rectangular Coade stone panels containing
goddesses of plenty. 1st floor of left section articulated
with pilasters supporting frieze and cornice. Various windows
and later entrance.
No.86A, painted brick with stucco cornice and blocking course.
3 storeys, 2 bays. Ground-floor openings round-arched with
stucco band at spring; door with cornice head, stucco
architrave and keystone. Flat, gauged-brick arches to 1st- and
2nd-floor sash windows with glazing bars; stucco band at
1st-floor sills.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
No.86 included for Coade stone medallions which are crisply
modelled and well preserved. They came from Dr Lettsom's house
in Camberwell Grove (demolished 1890s). Nos 86 & 86A form a
group with Nos 88-92 (even) (qv).
