Pedestal,on stepped base,with sculptured portrait bust.Large bronze bust,1956 by Laurence Bradshaw on rectangular plan marble pedestal inscribed "Workers of all lands unite/Karl Marx"and having inscribed panel;returns each with three projecting lugs,the topmost of which support sculptured wreaths.HISTORICAL NOTE:Karl Marx, political philosopher,came to London 1849 as a political exile.He died 1883 and was buried approx 100 yards to the south but moved 1954 to present site.
