Curved colonnade forming a courtyard with the main east entrance (qv) and buttressing the rising ground behind. c1838-39. By Stephen Geary. Yellow stock brick with stone dressings. Colonnade of 15 four-centred arches with chamfered arises. Parapet with stone gabled coping and string below. Central flight of steps leading up into cemetery.

INTERIOR with brick arched vaults carried on cast-iron beams and commemorative plaques.

HISTORICAL NOTE: originally used as a gathering place for funeral corteges before processing to the graveside.
