Monument to General Sir Loftus Otway in Highgate (Western) Cemetery

Monument to General Sir Loftus Otway, d.1854. Rusticated mausoleum of Portland stone with pediment, frieze and wreaths. Cast-iron six-panel door within lugged surround, attached to a triangular vault within a low rusticated wall. Railings in form of reversed guns removed when inspected in 1994. Crypt contains several tiers of slate shelves supporting coffins. Otway was a cavalry officer who served in the Peninsular War.
