GV II

Baptist church. 1860-1. By CG Searle. Bath stone ashlar front;
brick returns. Slated roof. Gothic style. 5 bays. West front
symmetrical. Central traceried, pointed arch 5-light window
above pointed arch main entrance with ball flower decoration.
Gable with dog tooth enrichment. At both angles, projecting
buttressed towers with pointed arch entrances in bases; 2nd
stages, gabled with lancets on each face and lucarnes; 3rd
stages, octagonal lanterns with gabled openings surmounted by
tall, slender 2-stage spires. Returns with 2-light lancet
windows. INTERIOR: not inspected.
