The Blacksmiths Shop and
Pig Sty at Birchfield Farm

Pigsty and blacksmith's shop with hayloft above. Late eighteenth century. Coursed dressed stone with ashlar dressings and stone slate roof. Single ashlar chimney stack. Quoins. Two storey.
East front has off-centre plank door with square fixed window to left to blacksmith's shop. To right another similar window with broad stable door at right end.
North gable front has external stone staircase to upper central door with flush ashlar surround, to right a small square opening also with flush ashlar surround.
West front is blank.
South gable has pigsties with 2 segmental arches on the ground floor with projecting walls enclosing 2 pens with 3 ashlar feeding troughs built into the front walls, above a square opening.
