13/10/52 No.5
(Formerly Listed as:
CASTLE SQUARE

Terraced house. Late C18 or early C19.
3 storeys over basement. One-window range. Stucco. Roof
parapeted. In the centre of the elevation, on the first floor,
is a shallow segmental bay with tripartite windows roofed by a
metal semidome; the side lights are separated from the centre
by thin pilasters treated as fasces, a feature first used on
Empire-style furnishings and commonly found on many C19
buildings in Brighton. All windows are flat arched. To either
side of this bay and rising through the second floor are giant
pilasters supporting a plain entablature topped by a pediment.
To the left of this portico a short stretch of wall, full

Stacks to party wall.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This forms a group with Nos 4, and 6-7 Castle Square (qv).
