One of a pair of gas standards, converted to electricity,
north of Brighton College's main gateway. Early to mid C19.
Cast-iron. Octagonal socle; tapering, twisted shaft; yoke
maintenance arm below bell capital embossed with palmettes.
Windsor-type lamp of original design, repaired; the ventilator
cap of late C20 date. The standard was removed from another
site for placement in the main court of the College in the
C20.
