20/08/71 Wellhouse to Preston Manor


Wellhouse, now ruined. c1735. Flint with brick dressings.
Rectangular in plan, with an eastern extension probably
originally a stable. Brick quoins. Two 4-centred arches in
brick to west and 3 to north, probably rebuilt and now
blocked; south side much repaired and obscured by ivy; east
side, one low segmental arch. The well survives surrounded by
a low brick wall on which rests the remains of C19 cast-iron
winding gear.
