Terraced houses. c1825. Probably by Amon Wilds and CA Busby.
Stucco, roofs of slate except for No.5 which is tiled.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement with dormers. 2-window range
except for No.4 which is of 3-window range. Round-arched
entrance with fanlight, that to No.9 having decorative
glazing; No.4 has late C20 doorcase; No.6 has porch of Doric
columns and entablature; No.8 has the same but with engaged
columns. All windows flat-arched. 3-storey segmental bays to
all houses, those to No.8 and the front of No.9 in St Peter's
Place being almost the full width of the front; No.6 has
verandah with cast-iron railings and coved awning; all other
houses have balconies, some probably replacements; No.7 has
paterae and cornice over first floor windows and cornice on
consoles over second-floor windows; Nos 4-7 lack cornices and
that to No.8 is simplified; dormers to all houses, the roofs
of Nos 8 and 9 mansard; stacks to party walls. In Ditchling
Road No.9 has a prostyle Greek Doric porch with entablature;
4-storey segmental bay to right with tripartite windows and
sashes of original design throughout; additional flat-arched
entrance under cornice to right.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Cast-iron railings to steps and area
of No.9.
