University library. 1962-71. Sir Basil Spence. Red brick and
bare, board-marked concrete. Timber windows. Flat roof. 2
storeys, treated as 'giant order' plus concealed basement. 15
bays to main, eastern facade, facing into Fulton Court.
Off-centre entrance occupying 6th and 7th bays from left.
Projecting brick buttresses flanking bays 3, 10 and 13 from
the left. Vertical strip windows punctuate large areas of
blind brick wall. Returns with projecting buttresses.
Extension to north for Institute of Development Studies is not
included.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
