Houses, now shops with offices over. c1810-1814 with later
additions and alterations including late C20 ground floor and
shop fronts. Pinkish-brown brick with ashlar dressings,
concealed roof.
2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows arranged 2:2. First floor has
tall 6/6 sashes, plain reveals; second floor, sill band, 6/6
sashes; third floor has 3/3 sashes, sills; all with rusticated
flat arches with raised keystones. Copings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the Parade was so named in 1860. Originally
called Lillington Lane, it was renamed Union Row c1809. The
lower section was laid out c1810-1814. Built as houses,
lodging-houses and hotels, by 1850 many had become shops. The
original buildings were brick fronted.
