War Memorial
GV II
War memorial. Erected 1922 with later additions. Sculptor,
Albert Toft of Birmingham. Cornish granite plinth and bronze
statue. Plinth square on plan, on stepped base, approximately
2 metres high. Surmounted by a life-size figure of a soldier,
head bowed and hands resting on upright rifle. The plinth
inscribed on four sides, with names of the dead for both World
Wars, Korea, and the Falklands. It was unveiled on 27 May 1922
by Lieutenant-General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weeton.
